| OCHH History The Oregon Coalition on Housing and Homelessness, originally the Oregon Shelter Network, started in November, 1987, when thirty social-service workers attending the Governor's Housing Conference in Portland, Oregon, requested a discussion of homelessness, an insidious crisis not then recognized by local and state government. Relegated to a basement room of the hotel, the group met and put in motion 20 years of statewide involvement in the creation of community food banks, community shelters, low-income housing, social programs, legislative initiatives, and educational conferences - all intended to bring social and economic justice to the people of Oregon. |
